Introducing Merrilee Zellner, Hostel Owner and General Manager

I am originally from Seattle, Washington. After many years of living in various parts of the east coast of the USA and overseas, I settled in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island.
I have traveled solo worldwide throughout most of my adult life, usually staying in hostels. I welcome you to enjoy reading some of the blogs I have written about these adventures.

While managing the HI Boston Hostel in Massachusetts in the early '90's, I frequently visited the nearby resort town of Newport, Rhode Island, and fell in love with it. The high price of accommodations and the wonderful summer activities and festivals that Newport offers, made me realize that a hostel was sorely needed. In 2002 I purchased the historic William Gyles House in downtown Newport and the Newport International Hostel was born.

Introducing Hunter Nicholson, Assistant Manager

I am originally from California. As part of a military family I lived all over the country before settling in New England. I'm a graduate of Salve Regina University here in Newport with a BA in Theatre Arts. I know Newport well, so feel free to ask for suggestions about what to see and where to go while you're here! I enjoy learning new languages and already know quite a bit of French, alors s'il vous plait, parlez avec moi! Since college I have worked for a theatre company in Norwalk, Connecticut. I'm very excited to work in the Newport International Hostel and to, once again, call Newport home for the summer.
